Written Preliminary Examination (WPE)

The PhD program in Computer Science was revised (pdf) effective Fall 2009. In order for PhD students to be accepted into PhD candidacy, students must complete the Breadth Requirement (pdf), submit a written report for the Written Preliminary Exam, certify completion of the Background Knowledge Requirement (pdf), file a degree program form and pass the Oral Preliminary Exam. More information is available in our CS PhD Program Handbook (pdf) as well as at special meetings held during fall semester.
