Personal Information

I have two wonderful kids with families of their own, and two grandchildren. Outside my professional life, I do gardening, bicycling, windsurfing, XC skiing, woodworking, and I restore and paddle classic wooden canoes.

Professional Information

I spent 30 years at 3M, and 5 years as an independent consultant and graduate student before joining the CS department full-time in 2002. I am now Director of Graduate Studies for the Master of Science in Software Engineering program, and I teach courses in the MSSE program as well as undergrad and graduate courses in the Computer Science department. I have taught in the areas of software design, distributed systems, operating systems, and artificial intelligence.
