How to Connect with CSE Students

Looking for qualified college students to fill internship positions? Interested in connecting with soon-to-be graduates? There a few different options for reaching students in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE). Below are a few suggestions and the contact information for those who can be of assistance.

  • Post job opportunities to our undergraduate student e-mail list at: .
  • Post jobs on University’s GoldPASS Web page. GoldPASS is the job and resume posting system for University of Minnesota students. This is the best venue to publicize the opportunities available for computer science and engineering (and all) candidates at the University. To establish an account visit GoldPASS.
  • Host an event for students – a technology talk, a pizza hour, or an information session. Better yet, let the students do the work to set it up. In 2007 the ACM student chapter began hosting monthly Local Area Network (LAN) gaming parties in the student atrium. These events are sponsored by companies who were invited to attend and give a brief presentation. For more information, e-mail .
  • Another good resource for reaching students is the University’s Career Center for Science and Engineering (CCSE). If you wish to set up on-campus interviewing dates, our CCSE Recruiting Coordinator Donna Gustafson can assist you. She can be reached by e-mail at .
  • Lastly, one of the most effective ways to make connections with students is to sponsor a student scholarship. It's an excellent way to easily identify the best and the brightest in a particular area and forge a relationship. For more information about scholarships, contact Anastacia Quinn Davis, 612-625-4509, .

Since the 1970s, members of the Computer Science Associates (CSA) have lent their expertise to the department and provided crucial input on industry trends to help create a top-notch computer science and engineering department. The group is comprised of industry leaders who focus on: examining issues relative to department programming; advising, assisting, and supporting the Department Head in identifying the needs of Minnesota business and industry, citizens of the region, and society as a whole; evaluating and constructively critiquing department programs and plans; supporting new initiatives; and promoting awareness of the department and its programs within the community.
