dspam
In addition to SpamAssassin we’ve now implemented dspam, a
statistical mail filter. Each user can tune dspam with the spam they
receive and it will eventually do a better job than SpamAssassin does at
stopping spam. dspam also features a web-based mail quarantine so that
detected spam doesn’t even make it to the inbox. It is recommended
that SpamAssassin is turned off on the
mail configuration page
and then go to the dspam site at
https://wwws.cs.umn.edu/dspam-cs/
and choose Preferences and then click the opt-in checkbox to start
using dspam filtering.
dspam adds a signature to the end of each e-mail so it can figure out
what e-mail you are indicating as spam in the future. If you usually
send forwarded mail as attachments with headers you can tell dspam to put
the signatures in the headers instead of the message body on the
Preferences page.
When you get a spam, just forward it to spam-yourusername@cs.umn.edu.
For example, operator would send to spam-operator@cs.umn.edu.
Don’t worry about people sending to your spam address, as they also
need a valid dspam signature from a mail that was delivered to your inbox
recently.
More information on dspam can be found at the
dspam website.
