CS&E alumnus Ed Chi has been promoted to Principal Scientist at PARC for his widely recognized researchimpact in the HCI and social computing communities, his technical leadershipfor research and commercialization in information scent, the formation and development of a new PARC research area in Augmented Social Computing. Ed possesses numerous highly-cited publications, election to more than 30 program committees in the last nine years, and more than 40 patents and patent applications.He has had significant influence and contribution inPARC client service contracts and has been sought out to consult on strategic Xerox web projects, like XEP, TrailNet, and DocuShare Wikis. In two years, his group had an impact on PARC's external recognition as a source of innovation and developed applications that have been licensed to a commercial client and government client.
