McNee and Lam win Best Paper award for User Modeling Paper

Graduate Students Sean M. McNee and Shyong K. Lam were recipients of the Best Student Paper award at UM'03, the 9th International Conference on User Modeling. Their paper, "Exploring Interfaces for Eliciting New User Preferences in Recommender Systems," co-authored with Profs. Joseph A. Konstan and John Riedl, was recognized for its contribution to the field of research on user modeling.
