ACM Programming Contest Held Nov. 8

The second floor of the EE/CS Building was full of activty on Saturday as the U of Minn hosted a site for the ACM North Central Regional Programming Contest. Fourteen teams of three students each represented five colleges. With coaches, staff, and many volunteers from the ACM Chapter, the total number of people involved was around 60.

There were 15 other sites in the region, with a total of 182 teams registered in the region.

The University of Minnesota Department of Computer Science and Engineering fielded 4 teams. They took the top 3 places at the U of M site, and also did well in the region, with 3 teams placing in the top 10%.

The Maroon team: Stefan Atev, Elliot Olds, and Vishal Shah, placed fourth in the region.

The Green team: Jesse Boettcher, Joe Wreschnig, and Elliot Apolinario-Wilcoxon placed seventh in the region.

The Blue team: Christopher Burns, Ryan Morlok, and Ryan Stanley placed 16th.

The Yellow team: John Chilton, Tim Meyer, and Tim Dielschneider placed 53d.

Carl Sturtivant and Bobbie Othmer were coaches.
Bobbie Othmer was also the site director; Carl Sturtivant and Chuck Swanson were judges; and Scott Dier was in charge of systems for the contest.

The ACM Chapter provided a huge amount of support before, during, and after the contest.
