Federal defense bill to fund CSE centers for Army computing research, robotics

In a federal defense bill recently approved by the House and Senate, lawmakers set aside millions in funding for University research within the CSE department. Funds were also reserved for other University research centers and local corporations.

The University’s robotics research program, led by CSE Professor Nikolaos Papanikolopoulos, director of the University’s Center for Distributed Robotics will receive $1.95 million in funding. The bill also allocates $2 million to the University’s Hypersonic Research Center, which studies avionics.
