CSE junior Alex Lau wanted a more efficient class registration program, so he made it himself according to a story in the March 29 issue of the Minnesota Daily. The story, entitled “Student eases registration process with new program,” describes how Lau created a program for students called the ‘U of M Class Scheduler’ as a way to improve upon the current class registration system.
According to the story, Lau’s program allows students to select what classes they want to register for, their desired schedule, and even factors in things such as free time and commutes. Lau reportedly created the program after taking just one Java programming class.
