An innovative Web site created by CSE graduate student Jesse Vig has been nominated for the Best NetArt Web site of 2007 as part of the 11th annual Webby Awards. The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal posted a story about the nomination on its Web site this week, entitled 'FindLaw, U student's sites nominated for Webby.'
Vig’s site, www.geogreeting.com, which gained local media attention in February, allows users to send messages comprised of letter-shaped buildings from Google Maps. Since launching the site in November 2006, it has reportedly received nearly 600,000 visits.
The Webby Award winner will be announced May 1 and honored at a gala in New York City in June. According to a Webby Awards press release, the 2007 Webby Awards received 8,000 award entries from 50 states and 60 countries. For each category there is a people's choice award and voting is open to the public at the Webby People's Voice voting site.
