A Star Tribune blog called Web Search posted a story highlighting its picks of Web sites nominated for the 11th annual Webby Awards, which honors the premier sites online. One of the sites highlighted is an innovative Web site created by CSE graduate student Jesse Vig, which is nominated for the Webby’s Best NetArt Web site.
Vig’s site, geogreeting.com, allows users to send messages comprised of letter-shaped buildings from Google Maps. Since launching the site in November 2006, it has reportedly received nearly 600,000 visits and lots local media attention.
The Webby Award is decided by a people’s choice vote. Voting is open to the public at the Webby People's Voice voting site, but ends Friday, April 27. The Webby Award winner will be announced May 1 and honored at a gala in New York City in June.
