The Institute of Technology Student Board (ITSB) named CSE Assistant Professor Nick Hopper the winner of the Institute of Technology’s 2007 Best Professor Award. The ITSB selects a recipient for this award from every IT department each spring. Selection is based on a student poll.

Hopper specializes in cryptography and computer security. He is a member of the International Association for Cryptographic Research. He received the National Science Foundation's (NSF) CAREER award in 2006. This past year Hopper taught courses, CSci 5271: Intro to Computer Security in the fall and CSci 4011: Inherent limitations of computer programs in the spring.

This is Hopper’s first Best Professor award, but he is one of many CSE faculty regularly recognized for the quality of their teaching and commitment to students. Repeat winners include: Carl Sturtivant, Chris Dovolis, and John Carlis.
