An innovative Web site created by CSE graduate student Jesse Vig is the main story featured this week on the University of Minnesota Homepage. Vig’s site, www.geogreeting.com allows users to send messages comprised of letter-shaped buildings from Google Maps. Since launching the site in November 2006, it has reportedly received nearly 600,000 visits.
Vig’s work has gained significant media attention this spring, with stories appearing in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, Star Tribune, and Pioneer Press. His site was also nominated for the Best NetArt Web site of 2007 as part of the 11th annual Webby Awards.
