CSE hosts contest site for ACM's Regional Programming Competition, Nov. 3

November 1, 2007

Tokyo

On Nov. 3 the University of Minnesota’s CSE department will host a regional competition as part of the ACM North Central North American Regional Programming Contest. At the event, teams from numerous schools in region will compete against teams at other contest sites to see who can solve computer programming problems the fastest. Those who qualify at the regional level could advance to the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), sponsored by IBM.

Last year the University's CSE team placed well in the regional competition and qualified to attend the 2007 ACM-ICPC World Finals in Tokyo, Japan, on March 12-16, 2007. Only 85 teams out of more than 6,000 teams worldwide advanced to the finals. To learn more about the competition, check out previous coverage in The Minnesota Daily.
