Professor Terveen featured in text messaging news story

The Minnesota Daily featured CSE professor Loren Terveen in a story last week about text messaging. The story came on the heels of the University of Minnesota’s announcement of its new text message alert system, TXT-U. In the story, Terveen comments on the new uses for text messaging that go beyond emergency alerts, such as mobile reminders and company advertisements. In one example, Terveen discussed the capability for phones to send reminder messages to people when they near places such as the grocery store.
