More than 175 members of industry and researchers interested in software engineering gathered for the third annual Code Freeze 2008 Software Symposium this week at the University of Minnesota's McNamara Alumni Center, 200 Oak St. SE. The symposium was presented by the University of Minnesota Software Engineering Center.
This year’s event touched on many facets of innovation. In the morning, speakers discussed the culture and practice of innovation from two organizations at extreme ends of the industry spectrum - Google, Dow Jones, and Medtronic. In the afternoon, participants were challenged to think about the quality of their work and practices related to building new systems or maintaining older code.
