CSE professor Maria Gini will be the featured Ada Comstock Distinguished Women Scholar Lecturer on Monday, March 31 at 4 p.m. in the Cowles Auditorium in the Hubert H. Humphrey Center. Her talk is entitled, "Robots: A New Type of Companion."
This lecture series was created to honor the scholarly leadership and achievements of distinguished women faculty at the University and to give them a forum to share their ideas with those on campus and within the community.
Gini's research is focused on artificial intelligence and robotics. Much of her work deals with self-interested intelligent agents that negotiate with other agents to complete tasks in partially known environments. In addition to research, Gini has proven to be an exemplary teacher and shown dedication in mentoring current and future women students in computer science. Gini is a Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of Computer Science, a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers at the University of Minnesota, and winner of the University’s Inaugural Distinguished Women Scholars Award.
