The University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology selected CSE professor Maria Gini to receive the Institute of Technology Distinguished Professorship. This award honors exceptional faculty for their contributions to teaching and scholarly research, and for their commitment to IT and its activities. IT Distinguished Professors receive an award of $15,000 for professional development or research. Gini is the second CSE faculty member to receive this honor – Professor Yousef Saad received this award in 2005.
This award comes on the heels of another major accomplishment for Gini, being elected an AAAI Fellow. Other prominent entities have also recognized Gini for her outstanding contributions through her designation as a University of Minnesota Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor, her election as a member of the University’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers, and by bestowing her with the University’s Inaugural Distinguished Women Scholars Award.
