The University of Minnesota’s Charles Babbage Institute presents an international conference exploring the gender gap in computing on Friday, May 30 at the Charles Babbage Institute, in the University's Andersen Library.
The conference is free and open to the public. The conference, entitled “History | Gender | Computing,” will feature presenters from six countries who will examine why women were active participants in the early days of computer programming, but are scarce in the computing industry today. Complementing the presentations, a new exhibit curated by Charles Babbage Institute archivist Arvid Nelsen will explore how gender helped shape the professional identities and material culture of computing.
The Charles Babbage Institute is part of the University’s Institute of Technology. For more information or to register, visit Charles Babbage Institute.
