CSE and DTC host faculty summer school for security
June 16, 2008
CSE and the University of Minnesota’s Digital Technology Center are hosting the University of Minnesota Summer School for Information Assurance (UMSSIA) from June 9th–20th. This two-week summer school session is focused on teaching faculty from undergraduate institutions to develop courses in information assurance (i.e., security).
Faculty who participate in UMSSIA are expected to gain an understanding of the basics in information assurance, experience with information assurance technologies, and exposure to issues related to information assurance, such as copyright, ethics, and privacy. In addition, they gain a support system at the University, a network of regional instructors with interests in information assurance, and a curriculum plan.
On Monday, June 16, Bruce Schneier spoke about security. Other engaging speakers are planned for the rest of the week. UMSSIA is funded by the National Science Foundation. For more information, visit UMSSIA.
