The North American regional contests were held on Saturday, November 9. We competed in the North Central Region and were a host site. Seven team competed from here and about 150 in the region.

Our team, U Minn -Blue, came in first place in the region,
dominating the competition throughout the five hour contest.
Blue team members are James Esser, Jonathan Moon, and
Elliot Olds. All competed last year and all have been active
in TopCoder.

They will be invited to compete at the 27th Annual ACM
International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals
in Beverly Hills, CA, March 22-26.

Another of our teams, U Minn - Yellow, consisting of Andrew
Houchins, Ken Loomis, and Joe Wreshing finished in 19th
place.

Two other teams from our department also competed.

Thanks to many people for helping put this event on:

taking care of computers, rooms, furniture, etc.

Bob Myers for recruiting ACM members to help during the
contest,

Chuck Swanson and Carl Sturtivant for handling judging
duties,
