Professor John Riedl was recently named fellow of ACM for his contributions to recommender systems and to social and collaborative computing. The ACM Fellows Program recognizes ACM members who have contributed substantially to the mission of the ACM. Fellows serve as colleagues who help guide and lead members of the ACM.
Professor Riedl specializes in collaborative filtering, systems, and information filtering. In 2006, he was named a Senior Member of the IEEE and also won the Best Paper Award at the Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) Conference. Riedl has also received the Commerce Technology Award, The MIT Sloan School Award for Innovation in E-Commerce, and at least half a dozen teaching awards.
