The second round of Fall 2011 TA offers should go out later this week.
Here is some additional information on the TA situation: the first round of offers that went out over a week ago was primarily to students who were admitted in previous years with a TA offer as part of the admissions process. In addition to these students the department has also made TA offers, again as part of the admissions process, to a number of new students. The number of students in both these categories is more than usual, which means that the next couple rounds of offers will be smaller than usual. So for the next couple rounds of offers we will we considering students who are continuing students with strong credentials such as very good past TA experience, or a background for a class where we have few qualified TA applicants. At this point we are not considering MS students, unless we have a position where we do not have any qualified PhD students.
Historically we usually have a number of Fall TA positions open up over the summer or at the very start of classes. This number is usually between a half-dozen and a dozen, and in some years is even higher. We will fill these positions as they arise.
