My research interests are in machine learning and data mining, primarily in computational learning and predictive modeling with little or no supervision. I have worked on the analysis and design of scalable algorithms for unsupervised and semi-supervised clustering. Ideas from information theory are a recurrent theme in learning, and motivates part of my research. I am also interested in convex analysis and optimization, especially analyses related to a large class of loss functions known as Bregman divergences. My recent research interests are in computational games and their applications to data analysis and mining. Application areas of my research include text and web mining, and bioinformatics.
