Local area networks and high performance computing.
B.S. Computer Science 1978, University of Minnesota
M.S. Computer Science 1982, University of Minnesota
Dovolis is one of CS&E’s teaching faculty members with a background in local area networks and high performance computing. His current interests are in programming languages and computer science teaching methods.
Dovolis says that the early required courses for computer science majors are his favorites. Key topics include: program design and methodology, data representations, object oriented programming, and data structures--using functional, as well as, procedural approaches. His other courses include programming languages and software systems.
In addition to teaching, Dovolis is active in advising upper division computer science students and conducting freshman orientation and lower division advising for Institute of Technology students.
