Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Behavioral Learning Theory.
I currently teach the introductory C++ programming classes for Engineers and Scientists (csci1113). My research involves the development of biologically plausible theories and computational models of learning and cognition. I am particularly interested in the challenging problem of "online learning" in which the subject/agent must learn in real-time while successfully navigating a dynamic environment. This work represents an attempt to construct a theoretical framework and computational models that address the central issues regarding humans' basic ability to both rapidly and accurately learn complex temporal sequences and form predictive models of the world.
