How can robots help the environment?

Assistant Professor Volkan Isler uses robotics to study the environment.

Volkan Isler’s research focuses on Robotic Sensor Networks (RSNs). In particular, his group is working on designing algorithms for robotic routers which provide network connectivity to mobile users, and for data mules which can collect data from the nodes of a sparsely deployedsensor network.

The Institute on the Environment recently named Isler Resident Fellow for a three-year term. He is currently working with field scientists on environmental monitoring projects where RSNs collect data over large temporal and spatial scales.

See the Robotic Sensor Networks Lab Projects page for more information about current projects.
