photo of me Joel Hesch is a graduate student (2005 - present) pursuing a PhD in the Dept of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. His research advisor is Prof Stergios Roumeliotis, who directs the Multiple Autonomous Robotic Systems (MARS) Lab, which Joel has been a member of since 2005. His research interests include localization and navigation of autonomous vehicles, sensor fusion, indoor human tracking and guidance, and human robot interaction.


Joel is a NIH Neuro-physical-computational Sciences Fellow (2007 - 09) in Computational Neuroscience. In his interdisciplinary research endeavors, Joel is co-advised by Prof Gordon Legge who heads the Minnesota Laboratory for Low-Vision Research.
