Augsburg Physics Practical Experience

Augsburg's program combines the personal nature of a small deparment with the varied research opportunities of a larger program. Because physicists do much more than study textbooks, Augsburg provides two distict opportunities for practical experience in the sciences outside the normal curriculum: The first, offered to several students each year, is participation in research projects on campus funded by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and NSF (the National Science Foundation). In recent years Augsburg's Physics Department has received over $100,000 per year in research support. The second opportunity, arranged through Augsburg's Cooperative Education Office, is to work at one of several Twin cities firms involved in such fields as civil engineering, electronics, optics, biomedical engineering, and space manufacturing technology.
