Dr. Wolf Ketter has received two notable appointments recently. He was appointed director of the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) and was named Chaired Professor of Information Systems at the Faculty of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences. Both positions are at the University of Cologne in Germany.

Ketter was a Ph.D. (2007) student of Professor Maria Gini and since leaving the University of Minnesota has gone on to become one of the world’s leading experts on big data, adaptive systems, and economics-based design of technology artifacts and practical sustainable markets.

In EWI’s press release, Professor Axel Freimuth describes Ketter as “a luminary in the important fields of digitalization and data usage.” He added, “His appointment in Cologne is a great coup for the University and EWI and it will provide further momentum to energy research at our institute.”

Please join the Department in extending our congratulations to Dr. Wolf Ketter.
