CS students compete in ACM contest

November 12, 2001

Two teams represented us at the North Central Regional ACM Programming Contest, held Sat at multiple sites. We joined 7 other teams at Morris.

Our teams took the top 2 places at the site. Of the 114 teams participating in the region, the Gold team, consisting of Jesse Boettcher, Jim Esser, and Elliot Olds, placed 12th, one point behind the 11th team, and the Maroon team, consisting of Rob Bajorek, Rob Duckles, and Jonathan Moon, placed 18th overall. So Gold placed in the top 11% and Maroon in the top 16%. Although they did well, neither team is satisfied with its performance and expects to do much better next year.
