CS&E Administrative Director Faith Goenner and Pre-Award Grants Coordinator Claudette Caparelli presented for the National Council of University of Research Administrators (NCURA), which is a professional development organization that serves to advance the field of research administration through education and professional development programs.

Each year NCURA hosts back to back conferences: the Pre-Award Research Administration Conference (PRA) and the Financial Research Administration Conference (FRA).

Goenner and Caparelli presented at PRA, focusing their presentation on how to successfully introduce a telecommuting opportunity in the workplace. Caparelli has been working as a diligent Pre-Award staff member for CS&E for eight years, and together with Goenner’s insight they were able to share the benefits and challenges of a telecommuting employment option, as well as its HR implications.

Goenner was also joined by University of Minnesota Finance Department Manager Jennifer LaFrance for a presentation and focused discussion at the FRA conference. Their topic was about overcoming the everyday hurdles of working with a team that is faced with common challenges. Using the book Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni as their primary text, Goenner and LaFrance provided attendees with tools that they could take to their own workplaces to help improve productivity, employee engagement, and overall success by identifying and working through common team dysfunctions.

Please join CS&E in congratulating Goenner and Caparelli for reaching out to the broader university research administrative community to provide their knowledge and support.
