Kumar Selected as SIAM Class of 2017 Fellow

Regents Professor Vipin Kumar was recently selected as one of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics’ (SIAM) Class of 2017 Fellows. Kumar joins 27 other esteemed members of the SIAM community nominated for their exemplary research as well as outstanding service to the community.

Professor Kumar is being recognized for contributions to data mining and high performance computing. Kumar has served as Co-founder and Steering Committee Chair of the SIAM International Conference on Data Mining, among many other leadership positions in the field.

SIAM Fellows help to advance the fields of applied mathematics and computational science. These individuals will be recognized for their achievements during the SIAM Annual Meeting, happening July 10-14, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA.
